The internationally renowned Le Meridian brand was established in 1972 by Air France "to provide a home away from home for its customers." The first Le Meridien property was in Paris, and within two years of operation the group had 10 hotels in Europe and Africa. The company continued to grow and ownership changed hands several times over the ensuing years. It eventually came under the Starwood umbrella in 2005.
Today, Le Meridien is a global hotel group with a portfolio of more than 120 luxury and upscale properties in more than 50 countries worldwide. The majority of its hotels are in the most desirable cities and resorts throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and the Americas.
Each of its hotels has a distinctive character driven by its individuality and the brand's values. With its underlying passion for food, art, and style and its classic yet chic design, Le Meridien offers a special experience at some of the world's top travel destinations.
